REP: Active Start Clinic - Next class: Saturday, February 11th. 2012

Good afternoon coaches & staff, please be advised that a new coaching levels process a has been introduced by the YRSA and the third ACTIVE start clinic is being held on

New message below from YRSA:

The Active Start Course on April 28th is at risk of being cancelled, as of today we only have 4 people registered and will require the minimum number of 15. The Learning to Train Course on March 3rd & 4th is now FULL. However, we do still have availability in the March 24th & 25th Course.

The Soccer for Life Course on April 14th & 15th still has some spaces available but is filling up quickly. Please direct your coaches to the YRSA website to access the registration forms and let them know that they can email the forms and make credit card payment over the phone.

Please note that there will be different stages if you wish to coach older kids...

Stage 1 - ACTIVE START (U4- U6 ages Players) - See registration form attached
Stage 2 - FUNDAMENTALS - (U6-U9B and U6 -U8G aged Players)
Stage 3 - LEARN TO TRAIN - (U9 - U12B and U8 -U11G aged Players)
Stage 4 - ACTIVE FOR LIFE - (U12B + and U11G + aged Players)

Please check the YRSA website for dates and location for the courses..... click here for the registration form 68.94 Kb 29/01/2012, 15:23

If you have received your coaching levels 1, 2 and 3 then the YRSA will grandfather these levels. If you are a new coach and wish to take the new ACTIVE course please register ASAP.

Please keep in mind that all coaches must have all levels plus LAWS OF THE GAME and Respect of Soccer in order to be qualified as a REP COACH OR ASSISTANT COACH...

Please see message below from YRSA:

Here are some frequently asked questions [FAQ] and answers:

Question:
Hi, if I want to coach u10s and above are you sure I have to take the first two – active start and fundamentals?

Answer:

Hi,
You don't need to take the first two as pre-requsites, if you are coaching U10 Girls you will need to take the "Learn to Train" Course.
Please keep in mind, if you are a "newly certified" Coach this year you will also need the following 3 courses as well:
- Respect in Soccer
- Laws of the Game
- Making Ethical Decisions
Thank You

Question:

Hi, what if you already have levels 1 and 2 but not 3... do you have to start over ?

Answer:

If you have Level 1 that is equivalent of Active Start, Level 2 is equivalent of Fundamentals - so this means, if you want to Coach "Competitive" you will need to take the appropriate course. Either Learn to Train if you are coaching U8-U11G or U9-U12B OR Soccer for Life if you are coaching U11G+ or U12B+.

Also, if you are coaching "Competitive" you will need to obtain the LOTG, RIS, and MED Courses.
