The Vaughan Snipers 2002 Girls Competitive Soccer Team won a silver medal at this year’s 3rd Annual Family Day Soccer Tournament hosted by the Malvern Soccer Club. The team completed the round robin with a 2-1-1 record only allowing 2 goals and scoring 4. The team’s leading scorer, Emma D’Amato, ended the day with 2 of the sniper’s four goals while team goalie, Madeline Bonavota earned 3 shutouts in 5 games.
The team earned a spot in the finals against a Pickering, the same team that had handed them their only loss early in the day. The championship game was a thrilling one right to the final whistle but Pickering scored the only goal to take home the trophy. It was truly a family affair with parents, grandparents and siblings spending the day together watching some very entertaining soccer including teams from High Park, Leaside and Bolton in the U10 Girls Division.
